The agreement around your order.

Who you order from

Sear & Shred is a food business in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Email searandshred@gmail.com. These order terms, the total you review before you pay and the refund and cancellation policy are the agreement for your order. Your confirmation email is your copy of it: keep it.

Orders and availability

An order must use a dish on the current menu, in a size and with the options its card offers, for an available service slot. A holiday offer can be ordered only for a date inside its service window. One promo code applies per order; Promo codes below says what it discounts. Review the food, sizes, options, quantity, address, date and time before payment. Prices are CAD. A gluten-free option may carry a supplement, shown on its card and in your total. Applicable fees and taxes are shown before you place your order. Your order messages distinguish payment received from service confirmation.

Paying by Interac e-Transfer

You pay for an order by Interac e-Transfer: we take no card payment. When you place your order we give it an order number, hold its date, time and dishes for 24 hours, and email you a tentative invoice. A tentative invoice is not a receipt. Send an Interac e-Transfer for the exact total to the address on the invoice, with your order number in the message, within 12 hours of placing your order: the invoice gives the time, in Toronto time. If your bank limits how much one e-Transfer can carry, you may send two that add up to the exact total, each with your order number. We never ask for your bank login or a security answer.

Your order is confirmed once we have checked that the whole payment arrived; we then email your invoice and your receipt. If we have not confirmed your payment within 24 hours of your order, the order is cancelled, its time is released and you owe nothing; a part you sent is sent back. If you did send the money for an order that was cancelled, reply to the cancellation email: we will refund it, or arrange your order with you.

Service details

Pickup at our North York pickup point; we send you the exact address the day before your pickup. Delivery $9.99 within 20 km, $14.99 from 20 to 35 km, free on food orders of $180 or more within 20 km. Beyond 35 km by request only. Delivery fees are confirmed from your address at checkout, and free delivery applies to the food subtotal before tax, delivery and any promo code. Pickup is from 8 AM, after the ready message, until 8 PM, in the 15-minute window chosen at checkout. Delivery arrives in the two-hour window chosen at checkout, between 8 AM and 8 PM on the selected date. Pickup and delivery dates are at least 3 days after the day you order (weekends and holidays count). Orders close at 10 AM on Saturday for Monday to Wednesday dates and at 10 AM on Tuesday for Thursday to Sunday dates (Toronto time), so the first open date can be later. $100 minimum before tax and delivery. A catering order from THE SOCIAL needs the notice shown on its card.

Changing a paid order

You can ask us to change a paid food order until its cut-off: 10 AM on the Saturday before a Monday to Wednesday date, or 10 AM on the Tuesday before a Thursday to Sunday date (Toronto time). A change can take a dish off or lower a quantity; more food is a new order. We confirm each change in writing with a revised quote. After the cut-off we change an order only if we still can.

THE PIZZA PARTY

THE PIZZA PARTY is a private party at your place: we bring our propane pizza oven and bake pizza there, outdoors. Our team at your party is three people. It is for invited guests only, with no tickets and nothing sold.

Booking online

Book at least 10 days ahead, within 30 km of our kitchen by road. The party is one package, The Backyard Party, for 6 to 18 guests. Children 4 and under are free and are not counted as guests.

You book online: your date and start time, your guests, your pizzas, the address and the confirmations below, and any allergy, which you note for our kitchen. There is no call and no review: once your payment is confirmed, your party is booked.

Price, deposit and remainder

The price is your pizzas, each at its menu price, plus one amount for our staff and service, and travel. Staff and service covers the set-up, the service and the clean-up plus the drive there and back, worked out from the driving distance from our kitchen to your address. Travel is $150, flat. The price is worked out to the fraction of a cent and rounded once, to the nearest cent, and you see it line by line before you pay. If you ask us to stay past the planned time and we agree, each 30 minutes started is added to the staff and service, charged the same way.

You pay the whole price when you book, by Interac e-Transfer, within 12 hours: in one e-Transfer, or in two that add up to the price, each with your booking's order number in the message. Your date is held for you for 24 hours while we confirm the payment; it counts as paid when we confirm that it arrived. Once it is confirmed, your party is confirmed and we email your invoice and receipt. If it is not confirmed within 24 hours, the booking is cancelled, your date is released and anything you sent is sent back.

Of the price, $300 is the deposit. It is not refundable, unless Sear & Shred cancels: then it is refunded in full.

A party booked before October 24, 2026 keeps the terms it was booked under: its deposit holds the date, and its remainder (the price less the deposit) is due within 24 hours of paying the deposit, by Interac e-Transfer, from the link we email you. If the remainder is not paid within 24 hours, the booking is cancelled, the date is released and the deposit is kept; money for the remainder that arrives after that is sent back.

Final numbers and allergies are confirmed 7 days before the party. More guests can be added up to 18 guests, and more pizzas, on a new invoice. Fewer guests or pizzas once the party is paid are not refunded: the food is bought and the dough is made for your order.

What you provide, and the space for the oven

You provide running fresh water, electricity, plates and utensils, an outdoor space for the oven and, if your guests want to sit outside, their tents and seating. We bring everything else, our propane pizza oven included.

Your party goes ahead rain or shine: we bring a tent for our prep station and our team. The oven itself never stands under it.

If there is lightning or a wind warning, we pause the oven until it passes. The party goes on; nothing is postponed or refunded.

The oven is used outdoors only. Its spot needs open sky above it, with no roof, porch, awning, tent or low branches over it; hard, level ground that does not burn, such as concrete, pavers, brick or a paved driveway, never a deck, grass, a balcony or a rooftop; and at least 1 metre clear on every side. We reach it from outside: propane is never carried through a house or any other building.

If, after seeing your space, we cannot cook there safely and we find no fix together, Sear & Shred cancels and refunds everything you paid. If on the day the space is not as you described and cannot be made safe, we do not light the oven, and the party is treated as cancelled by you.

Cancelling a party

If you cancel more than 7 days before the party, everything you paid except the deposit is refunded; the deposit is never refunded. If you cancel 7 days or less before the party, nothing is refunded. If Sear & Shred cancels, everything you paid is refunded in full.

Public events

A public pop-up, a ticketed event or a party in a park is not booked online: it needs permits and a custom quote. Ask us at least 45 days ahead.

A Chef's Table booked before these terms took effect keeps the terms it was booked under.

Promo codes

One promo code applies per order. It discounts the food and service subtotal, and never delivery, travel or a deposit, unless the code says it applies to the whole order: then it discounts every line before tax, delivery and fees included. It never discounts tax, and your total shows what it took off. Codes sent to a customer for sharing a post about their order are for that customer, once, on a later order.

Allergies and substitutions

Tell us about allergies before ordering so we can assess the specific request. Published allergens do not establish that a dish is safe for a particular allergy. Any material substitution requires your agreement; we will not silently change a paid order.

Cancellations and problems

See the refund policy for the 24-hour cancellation window on a food order, and the section above for a party. Contact us promptly about an incorrect, missing, damaged or unsafe order, and do not eat food you believe is unsafe. Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

One payment per order: nothing renews

Every food order and every Pizza Party is paid for once: its total, sent in one Interac e-Transfer or in two that add up to it, and never charged again (a party booked before October 24, 2026 keeps its deposit and its remainder). We sell no subscriptions and no memberships. Nothing renews automatically, and we hold no card or account to charge again. A later order is a new order that you place and pay for yourself.

What we are responsible for

We are responsible for cooking and handing over the order you paid for, with reasonable care and skill, safe to eat when it leaves us and as described on the menu.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes anything the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. In particular, nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, including from food that was unsafe when we handed it over; for fraud or wilful misconduct; or for any right or remedy you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 of Ontario or another law that protects consumers, including the warranties that law implies and your rights to a refund or to cancel.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:

• our total liability for any claim arising from an order is limited to the amount you paid us for that order, including its delivery charge and tax;
• we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profit, lost business or the cost of an event the order was for, or for a loss we could not reasonably have foreseen when you ordered;
• we are not responsible for a delay or failure caused by something outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, a power failure or a closed road. If that stops us serving your order, we offer you another date or refund what you paid for what we could not provide.

Your information and optional messages

Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information. Accepting these terms does not agree to optional cookies, promotional email or any use of your information to train artificial intelligence. Each of those needs a separate choice, and you can order without making it.

The law that applies

The laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario govern these terms. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any protection, or any right to bring a claim, that the law of the place where you live gives you. Nothing in these terms requires arbitration or stops you taking part in a class proceeding.

Changes to these terms

We date each revision of these terms. The revision in force when you tick the box at checkout, or on the Pizza Party booking, is the one that applies to that order, and we record it with the order. A new revision applies only to orders placed after it takes effect, never to one you have already placed. Ask us for an earlier revision and we will send it.
